The Wing Tsun syllabus is divided into twelve student programs, each of which takes between 3 - 6 months to complete. The first two student programs act as a beginners course where students are introduced to the basic concepts and movements of Wing Tsun. This beginners program also serves as a course in self-defence where the emphasis of the class is to teach a small number of easy to learn techniques against the most common attacks faced in a self-defence situation such as defences against punches, kicks, grabs, chokes as well as options against weapons and multiple attackers. This program is ideal for men and women (>16 yrs) who would like to learn alongside other beginners and each class is a mixture of the following elements:
Basic form - 5 mins
Basic footwork - 5 mins
Basic Padwork - 10 mins
Self-defence techniques - 40 mins
Coordination drills - 30 mins
Basic pressure testing - 30 mins
Classes are friendly and taught by qualified instructors in the Irish Wing Tsun Organisation (IEWTO). Students are welcome to bring a friend and all that's needed for the first class is a t-shirt, loose trousers/tracksuit bottoms and a pair of trainers. We ask that students remove all jewellery and bring a towel/wear deodrant if necessary.
The beginners program is taught on Tuesday nights from 8.30 - 10.30pm and Saturday afternoons from 1.00 - 3.00pm in the Coolmine Sports & Leisure Centre. The first class is free and after that classes cost either 10 eur each or 65 eur per month. For further details please contact Michael on 086 3989345 or info@wingtsun-blanchardstown.ie
